Readers
TagMaster's reader consists of antennae, a transmitter, a receiver, a computer function to process and store
information, and a physical interface for communication with other systems. As well as functions for reading
ID-tags, there is a motion detector that can measure the speed of moving objects even if they do not have
ID-tags.
In certain applications the reader has to work independently. This places demands on storage and database
functions, so that it can work independently to make decisions, e.g. to open a garage. The reader's integrated
input and output ports can then also be used for control.
One of the properties of RFID technology is that readers can disrupt one another if they are working on the same
frequency. For this reason when TagMaster's readers are fitted close to one another they are set to make sure
that they are not using the same radio channel. There are one hundred channels to choose from!
ID-Tags
A standard TagMaster ID-tag (1200-series) has the format of a credit card and is 3 mm thin. It contains an antenna for
transmission and reception, a memory circuit and a battery. All TagMaster ID-tags have a unique 8-digit identification number.
TagMaster supply ID-tags that are read-only and ID-tags that are read-writable, which mean that they are able to store
information. Information storage requires no equipment other than the TagMaster reader and software.
Power consumption is not affected by the number of identifications and service life is up to
10 years.
Heavy Duty (HD)
Both reader and ID-tag are also available in a special version, so-called Heavy Duty (HD), to cope with
extremely physically demanding environments with temperature changes, vibration, moisture or chemicals, as may
be required, for example, when fitted to vehicles. The units have also undergone testing for use in rail
applications.
The HD reader has been specifically tested for fitting to underground trains, which represents an extremely
tough environment with regard to vibration.
